Boondocking Clark Hill Rest Stop
Ascending to the heavens, majestic eagles effortlessly soaring on the thermal up drafts. Circling, they eye the surrounding landscape. Focused on one thing and one thing only, their next meal. Suddenly, diving earthwards having spotted their prey. Accelerating faster with every second, the precision of these magnificent creatures can only truly be admired while using their God given talents. The strike is as much a feat of aviation prowess as it is an act of war. Wings fully spread, tail twitching with every minuscule change in direction. Their razor-sharp talons launch forward. The strike is eminent, their prey unaware of the fate that lies ahead. BAM…. talons latch onto their prey and with that the eagle has its next meal. Boondocking Clark Hill Rest stop presents this spectacular sight of eagles in the wild.
Boondocking Clark Hill Rest Stop Review
Boondocking Clark Hill Rest Stop lies on US-26 highway approximately 44 kilometres north east of Idaho Falls, Idaho. It consists of two sections. Firstly, the lower section which accommodates cars and has some picnic tables and grassy areas. Great for the kids and dogs to have a stretch and run around.
While the upper section has parking spots for cars, trucks and RV’s. There are restrooms, vending machines and a viewing platform looking over the valley and Snake River. It also has some picnic tables and grassy areas. The rest stop is well maintained, clean and great for an overnight stop. WiFi signal is 2-3 bars and we can watch Netflix with no issues at all. Our parking lot is well lit, and we feel safe. However, the lower parking lot is not lit. Our outlook is beautiful overlooking Snake River.
On the downside, the upper level is close to the highway, so you do hear some traffic noise. Albeit, not that frequent and once asleep I heard nothing. The rest stop is fairly busy during the afternoon early evening section, with travellers stopping to use the restrooms and have a stretch. It was windy and cold as it is located on top of a ridge, however as we were in Cup Cake that was not an issue. Overall boondocking Clark Hill rest stop was a great place to spend the night.
